Frequently asked questions

Do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network provider with Aetna and United Health Care.

With every other insurance company, I am an out-of-network provider which means that I would be happy to provide you with a monthly invoice to submit for reimbursement to your insurance company, if you have out of network benefits.

How do I find out if I have out of network benefits?

Call your insurance provider and ask them the following questions:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for psychotherapy?

  • If so, what is my deductible and has it been met?

  • What is the percentage covered of each session?

  • How many sessions per year does my insurance cover?

  • What is the per-session accepted rate by my insurance company?

Once you have this information from your insurance company, please feel free to contact me with any follow up questions.

How much do sessions cost if I pay out of pocket?

In order to make therapy more accessible, I do offer a limited number of spaces for sliding scale, which means we will agree on a fee that works for you; that fee is subject to change annually. Please do not hesitate to reach out and ask me about a sliding scale rate.

My private pay rate is $175 per session.

How is therapy conducted? In person vs. virtual?

Currently, I am only offering in-person and virtual therapy sessions through a HIPPA-compliant platform. Each session is 45 minutes except the initial session which will be 60 minutes. It is important that you are able to take your sessions from a confidential, safe, private, and indoor location.

My office is located on 140 West End Avenue, New York, New York.

Is therapy right for me?

Oftentimes people seek therapy when their current ways of coping aren’t working for them anymore or they feel they have hit a wall or are in a crisis. Those are great reasons to come to therapy. However, you do not need to be in a crisis for therapy to be right for you. Any reason that evokes curiosity is an excellent reason to begin. In short, therapy is right for everyone at anytime.

How do I schedule a session?

First, we will have a complimentary 15 minute phone consultation and during that conversation we will set up a day and time that works for you to meet for an intake session. To schedule a phone consultation please email me at lilahschwartzlcsw@gmail.com or fill out the inquiry form on the website.

What is your cancellation policy/fee?

The cancellation policy is 24 hours in advance. Please email me at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule your session. Any late cancellations or no shows will be subjected to a $100 fee.
